Education 

July 2002: Graduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Insubria Faculty of Mathematical Physical and Natural Sciences with experimental thesis entitled: “Genic and functional characterization of mouse Allantoicase”. 

Professional experiences

·         November 2000 - July 2002: preparation of degree thesis in the cellular biology laboratory of Department of Structural and Fuctional Biology of University of Insubria under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Bernardini 

·         October 2002: she won a PhD position in Biology of Evolution and Development at University of Insubria. Title of research project: Molecular Cloning and Expression of α2,8-sialyltransferase (ST8SiaI, GD3 Synthase) during  Xenopus laevis development. 

·         November 2004 - December 2004: she stayed in the laboratory of Dr. Jacky J. Cosson, CNRS, University P.M Curie, Marine Station, Villefranche sur mer, France. During this stay she also visited the INFREMER center of Palavas (France) where she was introduced to “sperm tracker” applied to fish spermatozoa (sea bass). 

·         October 2002 - September 2005: PhD student in the cellular biology laboratory (Prof. G.Bernardini) of Department of Biotechnologies and Molecular Sciences of University of Insubria. 

·         October 2005 until today: Post graduated student in the Ichthyology and Aquaculture laboratory (Prof. M.Saroglia) of Department of Biotechnologies and Molecular Sciences of University of Insubria.

 

Laboratory techniques 

·         Molecular biology: Extraction and purification of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA) from tissues and cell cultures. Electrophoresis, gel extraction and cDNA synthesis. PCR, RT- PCR and Real time PCR. Northern and Southern blotting. TA cloning using E. coli as host.  

·         Cellular biology: handling and trasfection of mammalian cell lines 

·         Biochemestry: Western-blotting, SDS-PAGE, enzyme assay.  

·         Informatic knowledges  Windows (Word, Excel, Power Point), Jasc Paint Shop, Internet Explorer
