Degree programs

Bachelor degrees

Biotechnology

By studying biotechnology, students will learn how to use biological systems for the production of goods and services, for example to:

    • improve human, animal and plant health through the discovery of new drugs, nutraceuticals, vaccines and diagnostic methods;
    • protect the environment by developing bio-sustainable and environmentally friendly industrial processes;
    • satisfy the demand for energy by using biomasses as a renewable source.

The degree programme has two different streams: Molecular Biotechnology and Medical Biotechnology.

Biological sciences

This degree programme will allow you to gain a solid grounding in the different fields of biology and to become familiar with the methods, theories and new technologies applicable in different fields of research and production.

Students will choose between two different streams that provide specialised training:

    • the biomedical curriculum aims at understanding biological issues relating to human health;
    • the cells and organisms curriculum focuses on studying fundamental cellular processes, also from an evolutionary standpoint.

Master of Science degrees

Biomedical Sciences

The multidisciplinary approach, including molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, pharmacology, physiology and pathology, and the close connection with research activities of excellence, combined with particular attention to the needs of the single students, are the strengths of this Master’s Degree Program.

The professional figure formed by the Degree Course possesses the know-how for the exploitation of organisms, cells or biomolecules to produce bio-goods (innovative drugs, nutraceuticals, bioplastics, novel renewable energy sources) and bio-services (sustainable industrial processes, innovative agriculture practices, bioremediation and circular economy processes) with the ultimate goal to improve the human and animal welfare and the environmental quality.

An international and up-to-date preparation, highly appreciated by the employment market, is reached through several collaborations with Italian and foreign research groups, the Erasmus+ and the Double Degree programs.

PhD programs

Life Science and Biotechnology

This PhD program represents an educational and research proposal of “innovative courses” based on an interdisciplinary approach to the issues related to life sciences. The PhD course aims to face basic research issues with a biotechnological approach, by using different model systems in the biology, biomedicine and (bio)chemistry fields.

More information is available here.

CLINICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL MEDICINE, AND MEDICAL HUMANITIES

The PhD program in Clinical and Experimental Medicine and Medical Humanities aims at addressing the unmet needs of young scientists by providing a comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental principles, methodologies and practices of preclinical and clinical research.

Scientific degree program

PIANO LAUREE SCIENTIFICHE (PLS)

The PLS program represents a consolidated initiative aimed at promoting the acquisition, by high school students, of scientific skills that meet the expectations of the world of work and the needs of contemporary society.
